AEP Ohio Offers Low-Income Assistance for HVAC & Home Efficiency Upgrades
If you’re an AEP Ohio customer in Athens and your household income is at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, you may qualify for the High Efficiency for Low-Income Program (HELP).
This program helps eligible residents improve comfort, save energy, and reduce utility bills through low- or no-cost home upgrades.
The program begins with a free in-home energy assessment, which can identify opportunities such as heating and cooling system upgrades, water heaters, smart thermostats, air sealing, and weatherization improvements. Eligible households can apply online through AEP Ohio, and most hear back within about a week.
It’s important to note that HELP does not provide direct payments or credits on your electric bill. Instead, the program focuses on energy-saving upgrades that can lower your bills over time by making your home more efficient.
If you’re looking for direct bill assistance, programs like Neighbor to Neighbor, LIHEAP, or PIPP Plus may be better suited for that need.
Airclaws can make the process smoother. Our team works hand-in-hand with AEP Ohio to guide you through the application and help coordinate HVAC or water heater upgrades, ensuring you get the most from the program without stress.
We can help you understand your options, schedule assessments, and make the upgrades that qualify, so you can start saving energy and improving home comfort right away.
